How we came to be...

Rolling Barrel Events, LLC was founded in 2007 by two childhood friends, Corey Krejcik and Matthew Mebert. Their collective enthusiasm for quality food and drink is the foundation for which this up-and-coming event planning company is built. Having both spent time in the restaurant and hospitality industry, they understand the importance of ambiance, stellar customer service, innovative cuisine and quality libations. Rolling Barrel strives to address these factors when developing their unique social gatherings.

"Those of us who love beer and live in the Philadelphia area are fortunate to be surrounded by an assortment of quality breweries.  Travel in any direction out of the city and you will find yourself close to an award winning outfit such as Victory, Flying Fish, Dogfish Head, Weyerbacher or Troegs.”

It should come as no surprise to learn that Corey initially displayed an interest in the local beer scene during his years as an undergrad. Some things have changed since then (like his view regarding quality versus quantity), but his overall love for beer is still intact. A frequent visitor to local breweries, craft brew festivals, and bars that “know their beer,” he continues to expand his knowledge base on the subject and loves sharing his thoughts and experiences with others.

His passion for good beer is evenly matched by his enthusiasm for food and wine. During the late nineties, Corey studied at the University of Strasbourg in the heart of France’s Alsace-Lorraine region and quickly developed an interest in varietals such as Riesling and Gewürztraminer. Today, he habitually visits wineries in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic U.S., constantly searching for top-notch local wines that can hold their ground against their domestic and international counterparts.

Corey holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations from Ursinus College and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA) from Villanova University. After spending seven years in the transportation consulting industry, he changed his career path and now oversees business development for Chaddsford Winery.

“Philadelphia is quite possibly the best (unrecognized) dining city in the country. With a variety of cuisines to choose from and some of the best chefs in the nation owning restaurants here, you are left with one impressive portfolio of top-notch eateries.”

With professional chefs and talented cooks on both sides of his family, Matthew developed a passion for cooking and quality cuisine at a very young age. Having spent extensive time in the restaurant business, he has a wonderful appreciation for the social aspects of food and drink. His ever-evolving culinary skills are matched only by his zeal for eating out with good company.  He habitually searches for the freshest and most exceptional eating experiences in the Greater Philadelphia region to share with friends and family.

Throughout his professional career Matthew has been involved in a myriad of teaching, training, and development initiatives.  He has extensive experience incorporating large groups of strangers into a socially inviting atmosphere.  As a result, Matthew’s goal for the Company is to provide all who participate in Rolling Barrel’s events with a unique and memorable social experience to share with all of their new friends.

Matthew holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History and a Certification in Secondary Education from Washington College.
